KNOX BOXES

Knox-Box, known officially as the KNOX-BOX Rapid Entry System, is a small, wall-mounted safe that holds building keys for fire departments to retrieve in emergency situations. Local fire companies can hold master keys to all boxes in their response area, so that they can quickly enter a building without having to force entry.  This reduces the risk of property damage.  If you would like more information or would like to install a Knox Box at your home or property, please contact the Fire Department at (860) 535-0329.

Warden Jeff Callahan is away until October 2nd.  Burgess Karen von Ruffer Hills will be acting warden during his absence.

NEWS

ATTENTION BAYVIEW AVENUE RESIDENTS:

The Borough plans to repave Bayview from Elm to Elihu in early Otober.

Weather permitting the project will be done the week of October 8th.  Contact me with questions or concerns.

Jeff Callahan, Street Commissioner (860) 908-6530.

After seven months of work, the Borough Charter Revision Commission forwarded its final report to the Board of Warden & Burgesses in mid-August.  At its regular monthly meeting on August 20th, the Board unanimously approved the report, which is found here.   The most significant changes in the revised charter are to reduce the number of burgesses on the Board from six to four;  to consolidate commissioner duties among the five members of the Board; to make the position of clerk-treasurer an appointed rather than elected position; and to eliminate the position of tax collector.  The revised charter will be on the ballot in the next Borough election in May 2019.
