Dear Borough Residents,

It is increasingly apparent that there are many cases of negligence on the part of dog walkers for not cleaning up after their dogs.  This is unsightly, a health hazard, and in direct violation of the Borough Ordinance (SBO-09) on Dogs.  There is a fine, of up to $100, for violation of any Borough Ordinance.

SBO-09  DOGS

1. All dogs not on the owner's or keeper's property shall be on a leash of no more than 10 feet in length and held by the owner or keeper of said dog.

2. Owners or keepers of dogs shall be responsible for the immediate removal of any feces discharged by said dog when such discharge occurs off the owner's or keeper's property.

3. The Borough ordinance regulating dogs shall be enforced by the Town Dog Warden or the Department of Police Services.

Re-passed December 1, 1993; re-passed April 15, 2006

If you are a dog owner, please do your part, and/or if you have friends or visitors who walk their dog here, please help us to educate them as to their responsibilities in this matter.   Our quality of life in the Borough is a reflection of our concerted efforts.  Thank you for your help in keeping our part of Borough safe and attractive.  It is the Board’s desire to fix this as a community and to use fines as a last resort.

Sincerely,

The Board of Warden and Burgesses
